Today we’re please to announce Hashtaag has published its first in-house app: ArriveIn. The Android app, now available for download on Google Play , was brought to life – from idea to launch - in less than three weeks. We designed and developed the app, which allows the user to easily provide an accurate estimated time of arrival (ETA) notification in just a few clicks to any contacts that might be waiting for him/her. Arrivein is an example of the power of Hashtaag's new Jump Start team. This dedicated group of mobile app developers and designers focuses on creating simple (usually 5 screens or less) app concepts that can test ideas, wow potential investors, or be early products. To find out more about how it works, or contact us about giving YOUR app idea a Jump Start, visit our info page here.
As we mentioned, Hashtaag had a vision for a different mobile app development process – the Jump Start approach. We believe in “dogfooding” at Hashtaag – so we became our first Jump Start client to try and refine the process before offering it as a service. We launched a contest with our employees to get app ideas that could be built within 5 screens. Multiple project ideas came in, complete with UX flows and UI concept designs. Our Jump Start team reviewed them all (it was HARD to pick just one – we wanted them all!), and finally selected the simple, effective, helpful idea of ArriveIn. The Jump Start team got to work, designing 3-4 versions of the initial UI concept – then throwing those out and completely revamping the design. Sometimes you have to be unafraid to trash your work and start over. At Hashtaag, we don’t take it personally – we keep designing until we get it right. After finalizing the UI/UX within 1 week, the project moved to engineering. We started with iOS app development, and then added Android. We quickly decided to drop iOS and focus on Android, because it was faster to launch and we needed to tighten our focus. We also wanted to see how quickly the Jump Start team could move. In the span of just two weeks, ArriveIn was fully baked. Hashtaag spent a couple days with QA to bug test, while some branding, design and marketing polish was added to the app. “Hashtaag provided all the necessary support to bring ArriveIn to life. I’m so delighted to see the outcome of my efforts now available to the public, and to bring my experiences with this project to future client work. Hashtaag offers immense support to its employees, and its clients. I’m proud to work for such an innovative company,” says Abhijeet Hallur, the Android developer who led ArriveIn engineering.
